The NPP is designed to IAEA international standards and best global practice. Several independent safety barriers and active and passive systems are used, and the plant is under constant regulatory control.
In normal operation the NPP emits no CO₂, ash or sulphur oxides. Impact on water and soil is assessed in the EIA and controlled by the monitoring system.
Construction will employ thousands of builders, installers and engineers; operation will provide permanent jobs for operators, maintenance staff, radiation-safety specialists and service teams.
Operating experience of Generation III+ reactors in various countries, IAEA mission recommendations and lessons from past accidents are taken into account.
